Sex hormones tests

Female sex hormones regulate the female reproductive cycle. They determine the development of female gender features and provide an opportunity to conceive. Male sex hormones regulate the formation of features characteristic for the strong gender, libido, erection, and sperm maturation.

Although sex hormones are divided into female hormones– oestrogens and male hormones– androgens, hormones of the opposite gender are also found in both men and women. Hormone imbalances can lead to increase in the levels of male hormones in women and increase in the levels of female hormones in men. Impaired sex hormone balance can lead to disturbed growth and sexual maturity, disturbances in the menstrual cycle, cause erectile dysfunction and infertility. Sex hormones affect the function of many organs, so hormonal imbalance can be the cause of many diseases.

The results of sex hormone tests depend on the time of day when the sample was taken, stage of the menstrual cycle, menopause, pregnancy, and also on certain diseases or medications used. Therefore, we recommend consulting your doctor before having sex hormone tests.

Pre-registration is not required for these tests.
