Liposuction is one of the most effective and quickest ways to get rid of undesirable body fat. This method is most commonly used to correct the abdomen, waist, buttocks, thighs, back, arms, chin.

At our Centre, liposuction is performed using the two most effective modern methods of fat removal, infrasonic infiltration and liposculpture (nutational infrasonic liposculpture, NIL).

It has the following advantages:

  • the surgery takes 60% less time than breaking down and extracting the fat mechanically;
  • the post-operative period is shorter and less painful;
  • the skin shrinks quicker;
  • the likelihood of additional surgery for excess skin removal in the future is greatly reduced.

This surgery is performed in order to restore health, as well as for aesthetic reasons, for example, a saggy belly damages the spine and the organs of the lesser pelvis.
Our doctors recommend this surgery only when the patient is unable to reach the desired result either with diet, or an active way of life. Patients who are overweight (BMI is over 30) are advised to lose at least a third of their weight. Only then is liposuction possible, which may be combined with the removal of excess skin.
The removed fat does not grow back; if the patient puts on weight, new fat accumulates evenly in the whole body.
Patients with normal weight, whose skin has not lost its elasticity can expect the best results. If the patient is older, we recommend combining liposuction with the removal of excess skin.

Liposuction is recommended, if:

  • the patient wishes to change their body shape quickly;
  • the patient wants to correct their body shape after weight loss or a pregnancy (in the abdominal area);
  • the patient wants to get rid of a double chin, make their arms thinner or correct other areas of the body;
  • the body cannot be altered with diet and/or workouts.

At our Centre, we can perform several plastic-aesthetic surgeries at the same time to achieve the maximum effect and save the patient from additional anaesthesia.

Prior to the surgery, tell your doctor if:

  • you are allergic;
  • you take anticoagulants or have coagulation disorders (thrombosis included);
  • you have diabetes and take medication;
  • you have been diagnosed with cancer;
  • you have had corticosteroid injections in the last 6 weeks;

  • you have immunosuppression;
  • you feel unwell on the day of the surgery;
  • you have been ill prior to the procedure (a fever, flu, cold);
  • you smoke (abstaining is recommended for at least 4 weeks prior to surgery).
  • a complete blood count;
  • blood coagulation test (APTT);
  • electrocardiogram (EKG) and its evaluation;
  • blood glucose level test;
  • other tests if you have chronic diseases, as prescribed by your doctor.

The patient can bring their test records from other healthcare institutions, or they may have them done at the Medical Diagnostic and Treatment Centre in 2 hours. Prices of the tests performed at the Centre. The tests must be performed no earlier than 14 days before the surgery.

Liposuction is performed under local (low level surgery) or general anaesthesia. Duration of the surgery also depends on the extent of the surgery—it may take from over ten minutes to a few hours.
Up to 0.5 mm long incisions are made, then special tools, curettes (hollow stainless steel tubes of different shapes and sizes), are inserted, and through them the pump sucks out fat.
The amount of fat removed from one area is not great, ranges from a few hundred millilitres to five litres.

After the surgery, the incisions are stitched up and covered with a special plaster.

Bruising or haematomas that form in the areas where the fat was taken from disappear in a few days or weeks, if a lot of fat has been extracted and large areas have been affected.
If the surgery is small, the patient can resume their usual activities on the day after the surgery. The patient can resume their physical activities in 1-2 weeks. Sometimes wearing a special corset is recommended.
In order to achieve a satisfying result, the patient is advised to be more careful with his or her body, wear compression garments for 3-4 weeks, and have lymphatic drainage massages.
A balanced and moderate diet and maintaining optimal weight is crucial, because the extracted fat can quickly grow back, if the person constantly overeats. If that is the case, we recommend cooperating with a dietician.
If the patient follows the recommendations, the effect of the surgery is long-lasting.
The rate of complications after these surgeriesis very low.
The sutures are removed 7 days after the surgery. Small scars of a few millimetres become virtually unnoticeable with time. The final result is achieved in 6-8 weeks after the surgery.

Cold compresses. Peace and quiet are essential in the post-operative period.

  • body mass index is > 30 (obesity);
  • abdominal muscles have significantly lost their tone;
  • internal organs are malfunctioning;
  • the patient has severe, life-threatening conditions;
  • the liver or lungs are malfunctioning, the patient is prone to hypertrophic or keloid scarring;
  • pregnant or breastfeeding;
  • the patient has blood coagulation disorders;
  • the patient has infections or viral diseases (the surgery can be done after a full recovery).

FAQ (frequently asked questions)

Liposuction, one of the most popular plastic surgeries in the world, is performed on both men and women who have large collections of fat. This method is most commonly used to correct the abdomen, waist, buttocks, thighs, back, arms, chin. Patients who are overweight (BMI is over 30) are advised to lose at least a third of their weight. Only then is liposuction possible, which may be combined with the removal of excess skin. The removed fat does not grow back; if the patient puts on weight, new fat accumulates evenly in the whole body.

This surgery is not designed for those who are too lazy to exercise or wish to lose weight quickly, but rather for those who seek to solve a concrete problem, for example, they are unable to reduce fat build-up either with diet, or with more physical activity integrated into their daily life. In such a case, the body shape can be significantly improved with liposuction.
