There is a childhood immunisation schedule confirmed and funded by the State. The doctors of the Medical Diagnostic and Treatment Centre recommend additional (prophylactic) vaccines.

Prophylactic immunisation schedule

Initialisms and abbreviations:

  1. BCG – tuberculosis vaccine; HepB – hepatitis B vaccine; DTaP – diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis (acellular) vaccine; Hib – Haemophilus influenzae type b vaccine; Tdap – diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis (acellular) vaccine (for adults); IPV – inactivated polio vaccine; PCV – pneumococcal (polysaccharide conjugate) vaccine; MMR – measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine; HPV – human papillomavirus vaccine; RV – rotavirus vaccine; MenB – meningococcal B vaccine.
  2. The newborn has to receive the first HepB* dose in the first 24 hours after birth.
  3. PCV** and MenB** can be administered together (at the same appointment) with MMR**.
  4. HPV*** applies to girls only, vaccination schedule consists of two HPV doses (the first and second HPV doses should be given at least 6 months apart).
  5. The third dose of RV**** is given if the pentavalent RV has been chosen and the three-dose schedule indicated in the summary of product characteristics is being followed.
  6. Vaccination is administered following the summary of product characteristics.
  7. Prior to any vaccination of the child, parents or legal guardians have to be informed about the vaccination and potential adverse reactions to the vaccine. They have to sign the Medical Service Agreement form to confirm that they have been informed and that they give their consent.
  8. If the child is not vaccinated on time, an individual vaccination schedule is arranged following the indications in the summary of product characteristics.

Note. Children’s immunisation schedule is confirmed by the Minister of Health of the Republic of Lithuania, order No.V-955 (29/08/2018).

Age

Recommendations

From 6 weeks to 24 weeks

Vaccines against vomiting and diarrhoea caused by the rotavirus, ROTARIX. These vaccines are oral, given to the child in stages. The child has to be healthy and examined by the doctor on the day of the vaccination.

From 9 months

Vaccine against chickenpox, VARILRIX. Older children can get vaccinated, if they have not had chickenpox yet. Can be administered together with the vaccine against rubella.

From1 year

Vaccine against tick-borne encephalitis TicoVac, ENCEPPUR. Three doses guarantee the longest and most reliable protection. It is best to get vaccinated in winter or early spring.

From 2 months*

Vaccine against pneumococcus Prevenar*. Protects against respiratory tract infections. It is recommended for children who are frequently ill.

From 1 year

Vaccine against hepatitis A, HAVRIX. Vaccination against hepatitis A is recommended for travellers and those who begin socializing in groups as the chance of contracting the disease becomes higher.

Girls from 12 years

HPV vaccines Cervarix, Gardasil 9, and Silgard. Effectively protects from cervical cancer. The recommended vaccination time is before the first sexual intercourse.
