We all have moles more or less. Some are congenital, some occur over the years for various reasons. It is important to monitor moles - whether their size, colour, shape or condition is changing, as such changes can be a sign of oncological skin disease - melanoma.

Dermatovenerologists at our Centre recommend that the skin should be carefully examined once a month and contact your doctor immediately if you notice any changes. With timely diagnosis of melanoma, up to 97% of diagnosed patients reaches recovery.

Moles removal is recommended if: size exceeds 6 mm. Is constantly traumatized (by shaving, combing, rubbing or pressing clothes). Is atypical and at risk of melanoma, causes discomfort, is aesthetically unattractive.

At our Centre, the moles are removed by laser or electrocoagulation, electroexcision and surgery. Which method is best for you is recommended by your dermatovenerologist or oncologist during the consultation.

Surgical removal allows us to examine the removed derivative histologically for a cancer diagnosis.

The procedure is short - 15-30 minutes.

No special preparation is required. You can go home immediately after the procedure.

After laser removal or electrocoagulation, electroexcision of mole, the patient usually does not feel any discomfort. The healing process usually takes 5 to 7 days and, in more complex cases, 2 to 4 weeks. After the procedure, the ointment that promotes healing process is usually applied to the area of the removed structure, and the patch is applied.

The healing process is similar to scar healing. Complications after laser removal of moles are very rare. Depending on the size of the disposal mole, a scar may remain at the area of mole removal.

Be aware that sometimes a mole can grow back. It is then recommended to repeat the procedure.

Frequently asked questions

Laser mole removal is an attractive treatment because it avoids the unpleasant procedure - surgery, andcthere is no postsurgical period. No scars remain after the procedure. Therefore, this method of treatment is highly recommended for visible areas of the body.

A dermatovenerologist should evaluate the condition of the mole and its need for removal. The dermatoscope is examined for asymmetry, edges, color, diameter (risk increases with birth defect greater than 6 mm), or redness (erythema).
