Lithotripsy, orthotripsy

The most common diseases and illnesses: lithotripsy is used to treat nephrolithiasis and ureterolithiasis, whereas orthotripsy is used to treat heel spurs.

 Treatment. Both procedures are performed with a powerful lithotripter Dornier Compact Sigma (Germany). It is a contemporary non-invasive (no-scalpel), careful, safe and effective treatment, which may be used if particular conditions are met.

Lithotripsy is not recommended if the patient is pregnant, taller than 2.1 m or shorter than 1.22 m, or weighs more than 136 kg.

Lithotripsy is not performed on patients who:

  • have life-threatening heart conditions;
  • have increased blood coagulation;
  • have stones in the bony pelvis.

Orthotripsy is not recommended for patients who:

  • have sensory disorders;
  • have an infection in the area to be treated;
  • take anticoagulants or have coagulation disorders;
  • have diabetes;
  • have an implanted electrostimulator;
  • are pregnant;
  • have an oncological disease;
  • have had a corticosteroid injection < 6 weeks prior to the procedure.
